Forklift Engine Combustion Analysis

Fall 2022

In the final lab for my Heat Transfer and Fluid Mechanics Laboratory class I analyzed the Otto cycle of a Toyota forklift engine. The goal of the analysis was to measure the energy produced by the forklift in order to understand its efficiency. In order to conduct my analysis, measurements of fuel consumption, wheel power, and pressure inside the cylinders was used. The experimental data was compared with theoretical models to quantify useless energy losses. The emissions data of the forklift was also measured to quantify pollution at different operating conditions.
